Product Information

Introduced in 1966, The Olympus Pen FT is a single lens reflex camera that uses real film. It is a half-frame camera that was typical of the time. These cameras yield two shots for each frame of typical 35-mm film, doubling the potential number of pictures for each roll of film. The all-metal case protects the more delicate interior mechanisms. However, because of its small size, the camera is not as heavy as many modern cameras made of plastic. The Pen FT includes a built-in light meter and a recessed mirror system to keep the size uniform and easy to hold. While this camera hearkens back to a simpler era of photography, the flash was once powered by a mercury battery, which is no longer available. Care must be exercised when removing this battery, and it can be replaced with a zinc battery of the same size.
