The wisecracking gecko first seen on the 3DO makes his debut on the Game Boy Color with Gex: Enter the Gecko. This handheld version is a 2D platform game spanning 26 levels, each of which parodies movies and television. Players will explore worlds such as Scream TV, Kung-Fu Theater, Toon TV, Circuit Central, and more to collect hidden remote controls and to defeat arch-nemesis Rez.<br><br>Each world is broken down into a series of missions, which can be performed in any order. Gex is rewarded with a remote control once a task is finished, and he must collect all the remotes to access the final level, Rez's Sanctum. A password is available after each level so progress can be resumed at a later time.<br><br>Gex begins with five lives, each consisting of four paw prints. Every time he takes damage from an enemy or obstacle, the gecko loses one paw print. Paw prints can be replenished by eating flies, which come in a variety of colors and may also grant power-ups. Green Flies award an extra life, Red Flies grant invincibility, and Blue Flies offer full health.
