Product Information
Measuring 123mm by 75.7mm by 64mm and weighing in at 580 grams, the Yashica Electro 35 GX Rangefinder camera is classified as being one of only a few compact rangefinder film cameras of its time. The built-in parallax compensation of this fully coupled rangefinder utilizes helical focusing capabilities. With the featured gridlines found on the viewfinder along with the parallax correction, your photography results are truer to the images that are seen through the lens when the picture is taken. A Color-Yashinon DX F/1.7 40mm lens, which was first used in the Yashica Electro GSN camera, is installed in Yashica Electro 35mm Film GX cameras. This lens is capable of capturing images with a minimum focus range of 2.6 feet (.8 meters). The angle of view that is achieved with this lens is 56 degrees. To filter out extraneous light and reduce glare, a 54mm slip-on style lens shade is available. The lens shade is made of rubber materials and does provide a certain level of protection for lenses when it is in use. Using the fully automatic electronic exposure control, you have the ability to set the shutter to the right speed setting for your photographing needs. This is accomplished by preselecting the lens aperture with the rotating dial. Aperture settings for the Yashica Electro 35 GX camera range from f/1.7 to f/16. There are three exposure symbols that are incorporated on the camera for easy aperture preselection. Additional exposure control settings found on this camera include an ASA range for taking photos between 25 and 800 feet, an electro flash setting, an EV (exposure value) range selector for EV 0 to EV 17, as well as red and yellow exposure indicator arrows that aid in object focusing which can be found in the viewfinder and on top of the camera body. The Comal shutter is an important factor in the speed of the Yashica Electro 35 GX 35mm film camera models. This design offers shutter speeds of 1/500-of-a-second to 30 seconds in wait time. The X-flash sync capability is available at all speeds. Make sure you are included in the important shots by setting the eight-second self-timer flash setting found on the lens mount. While you may use any brand of auto flash bulb with this camera, using the Yashica ES-20 Auto bulb increases the simplicity of flash control. Two 1.35-volt mercury battery cells are used to power the Yashica Electro 35mm GX camera. These are the same batteries that were used in the GSN predecessor version manufactured by Yashica. While these batteries are discontinued, you can use two PX640A size alkaline batteries with compatibility success. The battery check lamp that is featured on the GX camera model allows you to check the amount of photos that are still available on the installed film, as it doubles as an exposure counter illuminator. When using a 35mm film camera for personal or professional photography needs, the available accessories play a major role in achieving good results every time. The manual for the camera gives you helpful tips, including how to check for updated batteries and accessories that are used; information on compatible brand information such as products manufactured by Canon, Olympus, or Minolta; as well as helpful tips and hints for the beginner, such as proper film handling and aperture priority information.Product Identifiers
